I work full time for PacSun and as such this past year it was decided to re-brand our online community. Our marketing team came up with the idea for "Community", from there the web design team came up with an awesome design. I then took that design and vision and began web development. Using a drupal backend I began to construct the site using multiple modules, some designed in house others from the drupal community. Almost everything has been customized!
A unique layout was created instead of a typical blog style (scrolling content) the design team came up with a block format. This was then translated into the drupal system using a bit of javascript and css development.
We also wanted the user to not have to move away from the home page when viewing a story so a JavaScript pop-up (lightbox) effect was used. But to maintain SEO friendlieness javascript is also used to hide the top and bottom navigation when viewed in the lightbox. So google will see the link as a normal site page. There are numerous other customizations throughout the site that I would recomend checking out yourself. I would also be happy to answer any questions as well.
